BLACK HOUSE BY CANNY ARCHITECTURE

I’m swooning over this contemporary take on a traditional farm house by award winning studio Canny Architecture discovered via Est Magazine.

I love the exposed roof structure on the inside giving the house such great height and drama. The sophisticated moody colour scheme of greys and whites sits in harmony with the black kitchen and mostly black furniture. The kitchen pendant lights give little copper accents and there’s some scrunchy brown leather seating in the boot room and games room but the showstopper is the tiled chimney breast around the fireplace which stands out in it’s glazed terracotta-esque glory. A restful interior design that is utterly seductive as well as wonderfully relaxed.

My favourite bit has to be the entrance with it’s heavy wooden double doors and cross construction hinting at an old barn. A great juxtaposition to the sleek architecture and black cladding.

SANDBERG WALLPAPER STYLED BY ANNALEENA

Let’s kick off the week with this calm and quiet styling of new Sandberg wallpaper called Winterforest. It as styled by the talented Annaleena who also managed to incorporate her innovative minimal rails.

I love the soft tones and foggy, barely there representation of a Scandinavian forest in winter. They’ve also produced a wonderfully stimulating video which has an instant soothing effect and will bring your adrenaline right down.

So find a quiet corner, put on your headphones and watch the short video. It’ll be good for you.

INTERIOR DESIGN & STYLING BY ANNABELL KUTUCU

I’ve featured interior designer and stylist Annabell Kutucu on here before with her work for the stunning San Giorgio in Mykonos and this is one of her latest published projects called ‘A Traveller’s Home’.

The earthy tones and wall colours used throughout in combination with natural textures like wood and leather give a wonderful warm and soft feel to the period apartment which strikes me as a very calm and reflective place.

I particularly like the kitchen with it’s period stove sitting happily opposite a state-of-the-art wine fridge. Now there’s somebody who’s got his priorities right.

I’m easing myself into the New Year with this calm Swedish apartment featured in Residence magazine.

I was struck by the beautiful flower arrangements and the soft cool winter whites. A nice start to the year already hinting ever so slightly at Spring. Styled and shot by my favourite duo Lotta Agaton and
Kristofer Johnsson.

MELO STUDIO | HANDCRAFTED MINIMALISM

I want to introduce you to Melo Studio today. A new Swedish furniture brand that focuses on minimalism, removing all unnecessary details and combining it with quality craftsmanship using only the best materials and paying immaculate attention to detail.

They call their aesthetics ‘humble minimalism’ aiming to create a modest look and enabling their products to blend into your own environment.

The photography had me at hello and I’m itching to run my hands over their beautifully finished products. Needless to say I’m a fan of their pared back design and love the fact that they only use solid wood. Isn’t that desk gorgeous with the angled edges and v-shaped legs!? I can’t wait to see more of them.
