INTERIORS CRUSH | PERFECT COLOUR PALETTE

15 April 2015

Perfect-Colour-Palette-via-Hitta-Hem-01

I’ve written about the trend for nude colours and pastel shades on here before and this gorgeous Swedish city apartment fits right into my current obsession with this perfect colour palette.

It’s no secret that I’m not a huge fan of the use of lots of colour in the home, at least if it’s not counter balanced with neutrals, preferably white, but I do like soft tones like nudes, chalky blues and greens, greys and brown shades and especially contrasts.

Dark and light, black and white, rough and smooth, old and new – for me it creates pace, an interest for the eye and this apartment has plenty of it.

Be it the vintage Bistro chairs paired with a sleek black dining table, the dark grey bedroom with white accents in the skirting, pillows and wall art or the knitted beanbag and tulle lamp shade in the kids bedroom. There are subtle contrasts everywhere which makes for an enjoyable viewing.

And I just LOVE the pale pink and dark grey desk space – smooth, sexy and cool. All styled by the talented duo that is Pella Hedeby and Marie Ramse. Mwah!

IKEA WIRELESS CHARGING FURNITURE

14 April 2015

Ikea, wireless, charging, furniture, smartphone, tablet, lamp, base, plus sign, recharge, style, trend, tidy, streamline, minimal, no messy cables, product design, online, in-store

I don’t know about you but we’ve got far too many devices that need charging and how I hate all the cables lying around making the place look messy. BTW cable tidies are a myth. They don’t work and look ugly! Plus, I always seem to need the one charger that the Cowboy just took to work. Argh!

Well, it looks like IKEA heard my silent plea and designed some great wireless charging furniture. Let me say that again: Furniture with in-built wireless charging! Is this not just THE best thing since sliced bread? Just pop your smartphone/tablet/whatever on the base of the plus sign and it gets charged. Genius! And the best thing is that it doesn’t fit into the Cowboy’s briefcase.

IKEA wireless charging furniture in-store and online any day now. Whop! Whop!

Seems that not a week goes by without a perfectly styled Swedish home.

This one has been set in scene by Josefin Haag, interior stylist and blogger at Swedish Residence Magazine. She has recently become part of the Fantastic Frank team and I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with next. If you like Josefin’s style check out her blog 20kvadrat and follow her Instagram feed for glimpses of her latest work.

In the meantime sit back and enjoy the details, soft tones and pastels of this gorgeous apartment oozing a calm and mesmerizing atmosphere.

LE LABO | SANTAL 33 BY CEREAL

8 April 2015

Isn’t it interesting how one story can lead to another.

After writing yesterday’s post about my trip to Le Labo in London I found some wonderful images illustrating some of their signature scents. Such a perfect representation, beautifully set in scene and highly evocative. The shown photography is of my favourite scent: Santal 33.

No points for guessing who their collaborator is. Love you Rosa & Rich!

IN FRAGRANCE HEAVEN | LE LABO

7 April 2015

Le-Labo-London-via-Stylejuicer-01

So, here’s the thing… sometimes things pass me by. No, really! Even me! OCD-perfectionist-Supermami is not always on her game and stuff slips my mind. [insert sarcastic face]

Le Labo has to be on that list and I can only blame severe sleep deprivation and crying babies for this almost inexcusable oversight. You see Le Labo launched it’s London store in February 2010, just as I was up to my elbows in nappies and trying to figure out why my baby wouldn’t sleep – turns out he was just hungry, duh!

So, when I recently read an interview with co-founder Fabrice Penot in Cereal magazine it prompted me to pay the store a visit and oh my, what an experience it was. As mentioned I can get slightly OCD about certain things and the Le Labo conceptstore almost turned me into a fragrance fanatic.

The beautifully simple concept makes it easy for the lay(wo)man to find their way around Le Labo’s range of 14 scents. Firstly, you have to decide which of the 3 main fragrance groups – ranging from citrus to floral and musky – you feel most comfortable with. Then you can delve deeper into your chosen group and sniff 4-5 scents before finally choosing which size bottle you’d like to purchase (0.5, 1.7 or 3.4 FL OZ).

A bit of a warning at this point: they’re not cheap but the added benefit of the 2 larger bottles is that they can be refilled with a 20% discount. Only once you’ve chosen your desired product do they prepare the bottle in their lab [#gettit?] and add their retro functional label.

Oh, and did I mention that they have some scented candles for the home (Figue for me please) and body care products too!? All wonderfully designed and packaged in Le Labo signature industrial style – quite the opposite to the (mostly) over-the-top perfume packaging.

I absolutely adored the experience with a super relaxed and approachable assistant who was happy for me to try everything and snap away on my iPhone to my hearts content. She even gave me a sample of my favourite fragrance Santal 33 which I’m going to treasure until I can afford the real deal.

Luckily, my birthday is round the corner. [insert confetti face]
