Ginger, Root Vegetable, In The Mix, Bike, Copper, Freckles, Beard, Hairstyle, Recipe, Fresh Ginger Tea, Steamed Honey Cream, Dessert, Drink, Johnny Harrington, Mood Board

Do you like ginger? It’s a bit of a marmite vegetable I think. Love it or hate it kind of thing. I never used to be keen on the taste but since moving to London and immersing myself in all sorts of different flavours and cuisines I’ve grown to love it and wanted to share my ginger mix with you today. Can you think of any other associates that would sit well here? Happy Wednesday!

H A I R S T Y L E / / I love the random style of this braid as well as the different shades of red. Found on Norwegian model Camilla Pihl’s blog.

B I K E / / Not strictly ginger but copper and totally gorgeous not just for the bike enthusiast.

MOOD BOARD | REAL ROMANCE

Real Romance Valentines Day Moodboard 2014

Good morning guys and girls and Happy V-Day! I hope you weren’t expecting helium hearts or red balloons or teddy bears carrying heart shaped objects.

Honestly, is there anything more embarrassing than having a teddy bear attached to a helium heart delivered to your office!? On a par with throwing up in front of your boss at the Christmas party I guess, but really… teddy bears. How old are we? Twelve? I once actually saw a girl on the tube on her way home on Valentines Day with such a monster on her lap and blushed on her behalf. I even had to switch carriages to get away from this saccharine piece of an eye-sore. It’s not that I’m not romantic but I like a bit more thought and classiness with my Valentines gifts. So much thought in fact that I think I’m the only lifestyle blogger out there who doesn’t feature a Valentine’s gift list on the blog this week.

Wait, I’ve just thought of an even more embarrassing Valentines’… a dinner a-deux in a cheap restaurant.

OMG, isn’t it nail-curlingly painful to be taken out to a public place where you’re packed like sardines at a tiny wonky table with a red rose, or worse a red carnation (!) as the whole sale price of roses rises sharply around mid February and this being an imaginary cheap restaurant they won’t have gone to the expense of bulk buying roses. Actually, it’s probably a fake red rose. A nasty plastic one they dust off every year. Yuk!

I know I sound totally ungrateful but come on guys and girls, a little imagination goes a long way to demonstrating real romance. Personally, I’d be over the moon with some of my favourite chocolate cake and a massive hug.

Aw… there, I’m easily pleased. [Though a trip to Paris would be nice.]

MOOD BOARD | MY PERFECT WINTER CABIN

17 January 2014

Happy Friday peeps! Doesn’t this cold weather make you want to escape? As January seems to be never ending – can you believe we’re only half way through!? – I want to spend a week in a cozy cabin, playing in the snow, sledging, sliding with some serious skiing before chilling out in front of the fire with a good read and lots of hot chocolate.

I think cabins are so romantic and evocative because they connect with our cave(wo)man instincts, searching for protection from the elements whilst making your den as comfortable as possible.

My 21st century perfect winter cabin is a combination of old and new, traditional and modern with comfort being the operative word. An open fire or a wood burner would have to be at the heart of the home to pump out heat and fill the house with those gorgeous sounds and smells. Lots of soft cozy seats, sofas, cushions and blankets add to the feeling of relaxation. I love old, heavy wooden beams and chunky posts as they make me feel protected and connect with the surrounding nature of mountains and woods. Stone is another natural material that would have to feature in my perfect cabin which would also feature luxurious bathrooms with hot power showers and huge tubs to soak in before preparing some hearty meal in my modern compact kitchen.

So after that excursion into my perfect winter cabin, how would your’s look?

And what about broadband? Now there’s a question…
