FOR THE HOME | HUSH BEDDING BY FERM LIVING

I’ve recently talked about how terrazzo is making a comeback in different applications and innovative materials, colourways and patterns – see more here. This season Scandinavian homewares brand ferm living has already grabbed my attention with their jumbo sparkly terrazzo wallpaper and I jumped at the chance to style their new Hush bedding.

The pattern is another nod to terrazzo and aptly called Milkyway encouraging sweet dreams of faraway galaxies. It comes in a subtle contrast of white on Rose or dark grey sparks on Cream as featured.

The organic cotton is beautifully soft and a perfect addition to our bedroom which I try to keep calm and neutral in decor featuring only my favourite pieces… an old stool, a much loved canvas and the softest sheepskin rug alongside some great design magazines and my monthly planer from Danish stationery brand Kartotek.

So, finally I’m heading off to the Milky Way now in case you’re wondering.

FERM LIVING SS2016

It’s been 10 years since ferm living launched it’s first range of graphic wallpapers and a steady rise for the Danish brand that draws on Scandinavian design traditions and simple aesthetics – but with a distinctive graphic edge.

For their 10th anniversary they’re launching a sparkling Confetti wallpaper as well as the Herman chair and Punctual shelving system.

Clean lines and strong aesthetics in combination with honest materials and craftsmanship has long been their unique selling point and I’m pretty much in love with most of it.

Looking at my own needs for the home office their new Frame pinboard and magazine rack would fit in perfectly and for all you plant lovers there are fabulous new Collect vases, Hexagon pots as well as plant stands and boxes. Wall mounted and free standing – perfect to style your urban jungle.

The modular Punctual shelving system also works really well for the kids room and I’m totally smitten by the Hot Air balloon lamps.

Top marks for founder and fellow graphic designer Tine who thankfully (!) couldn’t find the sort of graphic wallpaper she wanted for her home 10 years ago and which led her to launch ferm living. Graphic designers, eh!? We’re a particular bunch…

MOOD BOARD | GREEN TREND

Recently my interior feed has been flooded with lovely greens, not the bright minty kind but more subtle pale and dusty hues which I’m strangely attracted to.

Green seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment and the styling background of choice as seen here with the always sharp latest edition of Kinfolk styled by Lene Rønfeldt. Ferm Living set off their pastel kids selection against a pale green wall and Cleo Schleuderman of Dutch vt wonen created this beautiful picture wall on a dusty shade. Doesn’t it all look great!? Not sure it’ll convince me to re-paint but I’m sure liking the look of this trend. What do you think?

FERM LIVING SS2015 COLLECTION | BLUE NOTES

Happy Monday to y’all and let’s dive into the latest Ferm Living SS 2015 Collection. It’s so bitterly cold here in London at the moment that I’m clinging onto anything that has Spring/Summer in the title and promises warmer temperatures.

Ferm continues what it’s doing best: well-crafted design for everyday living. I love the aesthetic of their products and have picked some shots that particularly resonate with me and will make you want to dive into the whole collection online.

Blue seems to be a real trend for SS – you’ll see further proof of that in tomorrow’s post – but for now I’d like to point out the other trend I’ve noticed which is having vases in different sizes and heights as a collection of objects as well as for traditional flower display. Something I came across in my recent post about the Ruutu vases for Iittala as well.

Ferm Living always inspires me with their strong graphic language across their whole range from bedroom to living room, kitchen, office and kids room their prints are instantly recognisable and their popular handmade rugs now come in new versions. The kids stuff is adorable as ever and I love the wooden building blocks and embroidered cushions.

COOL STUFF | EASTER BY FERM LIVING

I’ve long been a fan of Danish home decor & accessories company ferm Living and have an unexplained affinity with founder and owner Trine Andersen. Read my previous post here.

Maybe because she’s a graphic designer like me or maybe because she takes everyday life as inspiration for her products or maybe it’s just all clever marketing and I shouldn’t be so bloomin’ naive as the cowboy would tell me. But still… I can’t help but being drawn to ferm’s Scandinavian design traditions and retro charm and their distinctive graphic edge.

Now, since we’re about to embark on copious amounts of chocolate bunnies and eggs I’d like to share ferm Living’s playful take on Easter with you today. I love the way they’ve styled the photos and incorporated some old school egg painting. I bet that was a fun shoot taking the models back to their childhoods.
