It’s my favourite fortnight again and just one of the reasons I’ve moved to London: Wimbledon 2014 gets under way today and the TV will be my best friend for the next two weeks. Never mind that there’s some crazy tournament on in Brazil, it’s strawberries and cream all the way at our house.

Today is a bit of a classic black and white take on Wimbledon with featuring some legends as well as some stylish fashion. I hope you enjoy and please feel free to pin, share and spread the Stylejuicer love.

LEGEND NO.1 // Prior to Andy Murray in 2013, Fred Perry was the last British player to win the men’s Wimbledon championship, in 1936
POSTER // Loving the typography on this poster found on etsy
SHOES // New classic’s – Fred Perry canvas tennis shoes
MODEL // I love her ‘W’ sweater
LEGEND NO. 2 & 3 // My goodness Borg was SO handsome

IN THE MIX | GREENS

5 June 2014

in the mix, greens, style, fashion, japanese, copper, scissors, mayflower supply company, smitten studio, zucchini pasta, mint pea pesto, recipe, healthy, easy, quick

I’m noticing greens everywhere at the moment.

Nature has just exploded around here – mainly due to the amount of rain we had – and everything is looking lush. It’s giving me energy and I want to transform our terrace into something like this deck above, cut fresh herbs with these Japanese copper scissors for the delicious looking zucchini pasta recipe via smitten studio and strut around one of the green houses from the Mayflower Supply Company’s Spring look book.

June is going to be juicy!

FASHION // Great backdrop for the Mayflower Supply Company Spring 2014 Look Book.
SCISSORS // These Japanese copper scissors would look great in my (imaginary) collection.
PASTA // Gorgeous recipe of Zucchini Pasta with Mint-Pea Pesto via smitten studio.
PLANTER // Love the design of this outside space.

COOL STUFF | ETSY FINDS MIEP UND MEISE

13 May 2014

Etsy Finds, Miep und Meise, vintage, toys, quirky, cute, children's, clothing, kids corner, Berlin, Amsterdam, shop, Fashion, design

I have to confess that I don’t browse Etsy very often. With so much noise out there and cool and inspiring products popping into my inbox, Pinterest and Twitter stream every day, it’s just not on my radar. But… I vow this is all going to change!

I discovered Berlin based Miep und Meise via Deborah Beau’s blog Kickan & Conkers and loved the vintage toys and hand-made children’s clothes that she sells on Etsy so much that I have to share them with you today.

Miep & Meise is run by 27-year old Svenja who always had a passion for art and crafts but didn’t dare to pursue this proverbial hard and penniless route. I know from my own experience that true passions can’t be kept at bay for long and sure enough after an apprenticeship as a medical assistant she started to dip her toes into the art scene, visiting an art school and working for a children’s fashion brand.

Interestingly, she got another boost of motivation when discovering that she was a descendant of famous German surrealist Max Ernst before finally enrolling on a course for Fashion Design last year. Her dreams are to have a (physical) shop in Amsterdam – one of her favourite cities – as well as continuing to grow her children’s clothing collection. She says:

The best thing about sewing is that you start out not knowing exactly what the result will be but the second you hold the finished product in your hands you fall in love with it and your heart beats faster when you realise it is made by you.
Have you ever noticed how soon-to-be mummys freak out when seeing cute baby clothing? This is how I feel when I finish a cute spring jacket.
I also love toys of bygone times. I think most were made with much more love and care and the way I source my products is not searching for them.

What a quirky statement and no surprise that she’s a descendant of one of Germany’s best known surrealists. All I can say that the apple appears not to have fallen far from the pear tree and I can’t wait for Svenja to open her shop in Amsterdam!

ZARA BROTHERS AND SISTERS CAMPAIGN

24 April 2014

Zara, Kids, Fashion, Bloggers, OhJoy, PinkSugarLand, Mokkasin, Campaign, Marketing, Brothers And Sisters, Blog, Blogspot, Advertising

I’ve declared my passion for Zara before on here before. Their style and price point are a winning combination for me. Add to that fresh, modern and clean styling and photography and I’m sold.

Recently I came across their Brothers And Sisters campaign online which even comes with it’s own hashtag – no points for guessing what it is – #brothersandsisters, duh. I recognised the little girl in one of the shots and bingo, it turns out it is Joy Cho’s daughter from famous LA blog OhJoy, shot by her mum in Zara attire for the Brothers And Sisters campaign.

What a neat idea! And oh so clever marketing. Bloggers can associate themselves with a hip brand and get referrals from the Zara site and Zara gets kudos through their selected bloggers. Everyone’s a winner!

I might sound slightly cynical but actually I love all the shots as they feel authentic and less styled and staged than a normal photoshoot.

My favourite ones are by Swedish blogger Sofia and her four children. Four children!? How the heck does she find time to blog? She’s clearly not human and if you’d like to read more about her super human efforts hop over to Mokkasin, oh, and switch the translator on if you’re not Swedish.

Zara just can’t do wrong this season. Simple, clever, stylish. Zara, feel free to call me!

AIGLE FAMILY PORTRAITS BY LOUISE DESROSIERS

8 April 2014

Aigle-Family-Portraits-Louise-Desrosiers-via-Stylejuicer-01

This post is a wonderful combination of (almost) everything I’m inspired by: clever marketing, creativity, branding, photography, fashion and style.

Today’s beautiful photography is by Louise Desrosiers who’s shots of the Amsterdam Warehouse only featured here yesterday. Looking at her portfolio I came across the quintessential French Quality brand Aigle (yes, with a capital Q) and her inspiring shots of the Schmidt-Fioro family wearing – you guessed it – Aigle boots and clothing.

The shots appear in a casual blog-like section on their website and are part of a series called ‘Family Spirit’ that showcases aspirational, creative families and their projects, day-to-day habits and what makes them stand out from the crowd.

By no means a new strategy but somehow these inviting and intimate shots make me connect with their brand in ways I didn’t before and I’ve got a fuzzy feeling that I want to be part of this campaign and maybe the easiest way would be to buy some of their clothes!? Gotcha! Or whatever the French would say instead.

A smart angle by Aigle (see what I did there) and though they haven’t managed to convince me to buy any of their product I do enjoy the reportage feel of the campaign and the voyeur in me wants to see who’s life I can pry into next. I’ll be checking back regularly et voilà… an impulse buy might, just might happen.

Clever the French, aren’t they!?
