LOFT LOVE | CONVERTED WAREHOUSE BY LISA KOEHLER

My love for lofts has been well documented on this blog and today I want to share this stunning example of a converted warehouse by Lisa Koehler with you. The space is wonderfully stylish as well as inviting and there isn’t a single item or texture in here that I don’t drool over. 

The structure and dimensions of any loft are always impressive due to their historic use but that doesn’t necessarily translate into a warm and engaging habitable space. Lisa has enhanced the converted warehouse for her client by adding texture and a pared back colour palette thus giving the brick walls, exposed heating and that wonderful white washed vaulted ceiling priority.

I thought I was a bit tired of seeing shaker style kitchens but in the context of this space and with the addition of those metal semi-circular handles it is reminiscent of early 20th century utilitarian cupboards, so fitting for a converted warehouse – and I simply love that dark inky blue. The vaulted ceiling made for an ideal mezzanine platform to add a bedroom which has a large roof light, perfect for counting the stars should you have trouble falling asleep.

The space is laid back, stylish and honest and I can’t wait to see Lisa’s next project.

LONDON LOFT WITH RUSTY STEEL SHOWSTOPPER

This loft is a successful mix of high and low spec with a rusty steel RSJ showstopper.

I was looking for some kitchen inspo on beloved (and sometimes hated) Pinterest and found this gorgeous London loft. You can hire it as a location for photo shoots and I can see the attraction.

The loft is a successful mix of high and low spec with smart polished concrete flooring and sleek inbuilt kitchen cabinets as well as flea market finds and – my favourite piece – a rusty steel RSJ holding up the kitchen ceiling. I wonder if that was an original feature or added when the renovation took place. Either way I want one! It adds character and industrial flair but mostly it’s a great show stopper and talking point.

LOFT LOVE IN VIENNA | ANNABELL KUTUCU

It’s been a bit quiet on here I know… why? Well, just life taking over once again. *sighs* House renovations, full time job, kids and more DIY and more work and more kids, haha only kidding about the more kids part. Joke!

Sooooo… I thought I’d better come back with a bang and OMG isn’t this loft apartment just perfect!? One of my favourite interior designers, Annabell Kutucu – she of Casa Cook fame and über-cool Berlin Apartment reno (here) – has done it again. This time she’s waved her magic interior wand around this 300sqm apartment in Vienna for a ‘well-travelled design aficionado’ as she describes her client.

I love how she manages to create understated luxury with a relaxed boho vibe through the use of a monochrome, earthy colour palette and a multitude of textures and materials. Custom-made pieces of furniture, objects d’art and vintage mid-century finds create focal points and blend seamlessly with the rough linen carpets on smooth polished concrete. The interior becomes an eclectic mix that oozes luxury as well as relaxed holiday vibes, a perfect place to entertain your hipster friends as well as chill out after the a delicious fusion food supper. *dreams*

INTERIORS CRUSH | LOFT IN BERLIN

Hey peeps, I’m just popping my head up between unpacking boxes as it’s my birthday today and I found the perfect interiors crush for you: A loft in Berlin on the market for a mere 3.7m Euros via Fantastic Frank in case you’re on the lookout for a pied a terre. Haha!

The interior pretty much sums up my dream home with exposed beams and bricks, high ceilings and all mod cons including a stunning sauna for that spa experience at home. I suspect the place has been staged for the shoot as the cabbage leaves are fast becoming a Fantastic Frank’s styling hallmark – not that I mind. Adding textures like leather sofas, lush plants, animal skin rugs, soft bedding and throws and an achingly cool urban Van Moof bike as the cherry on top really speak to all my senses and I’m left with an overwhelming desire to put in an offer. Though it might be slightly lower than the asking price.

Enjoy all the eye candy – for once I’m not going to apologise for the photo bombing.

LOFT LOVE | CLAPTON WAREHOUSE

Happy Monday! It’s half-term here in the UK and entertaining the kids is a priority this week but before they jump on me demanding to chase them like a dragon or tickle them senseless I’m sneaking in this gorgeous Clapton warehouse in East London.

I’m not sure if it’s just the photography but the tones are much softer than the usual Scandinavian white wash and the untreated (I think) nude render gives this place real warmth and is somehow more true to it’s industrial past. Of course I was drawn to the clean lines and the to-die-for concrete wet room and kitchen counter but I love the exposed steel girders painted in black and the mezzanine bedroom.
