MOOD BOARD | NUDE TREND

What could be a better fit than NUDES on this special day for all loved up couples out there. Aw… you guys, so cute….

You may detect some cynicism in my tone but it’s not because I dislike Valentines Day per se. Though I do have a problem with the commercial aspect of it and the stupidly inflated prices for flowers in general and roses in particular. But I guess that’s market forces at play. Supply and demand… yadda yadda.

As I mentioned earlier this week I’m declaring my love of nudes today. You night have noticed my Instagram account turning somewhat nude and dare I say pink – shock horror!? Well, it’s more of a soft pink that I champion, aka nude. In fashion it’s wonderfully flattering with all skin tones from pale blondes to freckly gingers to dark skin and hair, nude looks good on everyone. It even gives women like me a little lift with my washed out complexion and hair. Plus it’s a wonderfully feminine colour and always makes me feel like a natural woman… Are you breaking out in song?

On my recent (all too brief) shopping trip to London’s Oxford Street I noticed a lot of nude tones around from sheer blouses to trousers and lingerie. I think it’s going to be a really strong nude trend this year and I love it as it looks good with all my favourite neutrals like white, grey and black and gives a hint of colour without shouting pink at you.

Now, go and put that iphone/pad down and snuggle up to your loved one for another round of oh lala or maybe just a good old snooze. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

TOAST UK SS 2015 PRE-COLLECTION

More blues on the blog today with Toast UK SS2015 Pre-Collection. Highly wearable clothes in denim and other blue hues that go with everything in the upcoming months. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post about Ferm Living’s home wares blue seems to be a bit of a front runner for Spring Summer and I couldn’t be happier about this trend. Everyone’s a winner!

I like the setting in which they shot the collection which reminds me of an artist studio with the different backgrounds and canvases. It’s still a bit dark and moody which is just perfect for the ‘in between’ months before the daylight hours finally increase. I don’t know about you but I Can Not Wait for Spring.

BTW, how cool are those brogues with the bright blue elastic in the shot above!?

MOOD BOARD | IN LOVE WITH GREY

I’m going to continue the monochrome theme today with grey which has always been a bit of a favourite colour for me. It’s so flattering in clothing and interiors as it provides a great backdrop and base for pops of colour.

Last week I came across Cereal founder and editor Rosa Parks article of The Graham & Co and fell in love with the look of this small boutique hotel in the Catskills, a mere 100 miles north of New York City.

Perfectly located for hiking, fishing and skiing the hotel describes itself as a modern take on the classic weekend getaway. It is run by four friends who all have a background in design and fashion which accounts for the simple modern rustic styling of the rooms. Rosa’s shot of the branded grey blanket above gives you a flavour of the hotel’s laid back and comfortable style. Check out their website for more details.

CHRISTMAS AT HOME WITH TOAST UK

It’s the first of December so let’s get this party started! I’ve already teased you last week with some simple and stylish Christmas DIYs and a beautiful modern rustic home full of Christmas scents in Denmark but today I’m going to get you in shopping mood.

These beautiful dark and moody Christmas shots are from one of my favourite brands, Toast UK. I’ve featured their clothes a few times on the blog but I’m equally in love with their house and home range.

Comfy and luxurious, sexy and rustic – their loungewear is made for an elegant yet relaxed Christmas, blissfully without any garish battery-powered toys or sticky fingers in sight. [I know the grass is always greener…]

I adore the styling of these shots which represent a welcome contrast to all the crisp, clean and mostly white festive decoration that is so on trend at the moment.

FOOD HEAVEN | ASIAN FALL VEGETABLES

Asian Fall Vegetables is a lip-smackingly delicious gluten-free recipe by talented photographers and kitchen wizards Susann and Yannic of the stylish German recipe blog Kraut-Kopf.

Fed to me via Pinterest (excuse the very bad pun) I was hooked on their simple, contemporary and minimalist aesthetics as well as their ethos of simple, healthy and balanced seasonal dishes incorporating influences from all over the world. With an awareness on ingredients they keep an eye on sugar, dairy products and grain. Cute little icons under each recipe show whether it’s vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free and if it is prepared with whole grains or without industrial sugar.

The site is a delight to browse with seasonal sections and a simple layout for ingredients and directions. After a quick chat with Susann I was delighted when she gave me permission to feature her Asian Fall Vegetables photography and I hope you’ll head over to Krautkopf for the real deal and to get your hands dirty.

On further investigation I found out that the multi-talented couple also shoot weddings and have created a little label called Paul’s Schleifen for handmade bow-ties. Whatever next? Watch this space… I’ll be keeping a close eye these hipsters from Berlin.
