DANISH SUMMER BEACH HOUSE

OMG, my romantic side has got the better of me today. Isn’t this Danish summer beach house just gorgeous!? I found it via Femina and it is the home of photographer and stylist Mette Wotkjær which she shares during the summer with her extended family.

Mette’s own home is much more modern and filled with designer pieces from &Tradition, Muuto and Hay to name but a few. One of the reasons I suspect why she went for quite a classic Nordic style including antiques, vintage pieces and the obligatory wood burner complete with cosy sheep skin.

For me Mette has got the balance of classic and modern just right with this interior. The 1960ies house is stripped back with sanded floors and white ceilings and walls with just enough vintage and modern pieces to make it comfortable and homely. They say it’s knowing when to stop adding to a room that makes a good interior designer and stylist and I think Mette has got it spot on.

Adding blues in different hues as the only additional colour brings the whole house together and highlights the vintage – I’m guessing 60ies – kitchen.

At the end of this fabulously hot week here in London I could do with a weekend at her summer beach house which is just 5 min walk and 180 steps to the sea. *dream*

Where are you cooling off this weekend?

After going back and forth about totally white-washing a couple rooms in my own house, this has convinced me to pull out the paint buckets. All white everything is so, so calming.

Hoping to take a dive into a friend’s saltwater pool to cool down soon. I’ll be pretending it’s the sea as Atlanta is five hours from the nearest beach. Happy cooling down to you, too!

Yay Jess, go and white wash! I agree it’s extremely calming, clean and fresh. I never seem to tire of white. XO

PS: It’s been paddling pool and hose pipe for me and the kids these last few days but soon we’ll head to the beach in Northern Germany which will be lovely. Keep cool down there in Atlanta! 😉
