Falalala… even though the weather has been pretty wet and mild I’m in the mood for some Christmas home inspiration and found this stunning place via Danish site Femina.
It’s the home of interior designer Anna Jessen who likes to stimulate all the senses at Christmas and has paid special attention to evocative smells this year. Wood fire, evergreens and spices like large cinnamon sticks are in plentiful supply in her home during the festive period as are an abundance of candles and one of my Christmas favourites, a striking red amaryllis.
Her home is a great example of modern rustic living and I like how she effortlessly mixes antiques like the wooden corner cupboard with sleek contemporary furniture and lighting. The mostly black and white home is easily transformed with her choice of simple decorations and a wood burner brings extra intimacy and coziness. It’s a clever idea to integrate the fire place into the wall at waist level so you can watch the flames when you’re sitting at the dining table.
The real show stopper has to be the all black kitchen for me which provides a lovely contrast to the period dimensions of the town house.
I don’t know about you but I’ve got this urge to get closer to my screen in order to smell the wonderful Christmas scents…
