Howdy! I hope you’re all having a great summer so far. We’ve just got back from our US adventure and I’m slowly working my way through our holiday snaps as well as piles of laundry whilst trying to stop the boys from having mud fights in the garden thus contributing to mentioned pile.

In the meantime I’ve got to share this gorgeous Brazilian beach house with you which coincidentally is where I’d like to be right now – and for the rest of the summer. How enticing does this pile of white cushions look?

The interior is kind of ‘Scandinavia meets Brazil’ with a muted colour palette and the use of lots of natural materials like wood, rattan and terracotta. Such a perfect contrast between the rough dark wood and the smooth white resin flooring. The fold-away glass doors set in heavy wooden frames make it easy to merge outside and inside letting the air breeze through and giving view of the lush green surroundings and the sea beyond.

But before I drift away with this dream holiday home back to reality and my pile of laundry. Wait… the kids are awfully quiet… *runs off*

BRISA BEDLINEN BY MADE.COM

Friends often joke that I’m addicted to monochrome which is strange for me as I never see myself or my surroundings laking colour. Maybe it’s living with small-fry and the inevitable colourful toys strewn across the floor or my work as a graphic designer which makes me crave a neutral palette in my home. I’m also essentially a very lazy person (what???) so a monochrome colour scheme is practical as well as timeless and gives my overstimulated eyes a much needed rest.

But let’s get back to colour which doesn’t always have to be the of the bright variety, right!? I love subtle shades around me and Made.com have just come up with a great new range of bedlinen called Brisa in beautiful tones from neutrals like off white, light silver and steel to soft blush, subtle lilac and blue dusk. My personal favourite is the latter which is a gorgeous denim/indigo shade that works particularly well with the crumpled linen texture.

Linen is a key interior trend at the moment and particularly popular in the summer months as the fabric naturally regulates your body temperature while you sleep. It’s an eco friendly product as the flax plant only requires rainwater to grow and the fabric is breathable, hypoallergenic and incredibly resilient. Linen only gets better with age and I love it’s understated cool and relaxed look. Perfect if you have an aversion to ironing!

JAPAN | FRAMING HOUSE

When I first saw the framing house I thought it had to be CGI due to it’s super crisp lines and dramatic geometry with black-coated steel exterior… but not for the first time in my life I was mistaken.

The Japanese architects Kouichi Kimura managed to create a functional home that includes a gallery space on the ground floor with private quarters above characterised by stark minimalism.

My favourite part has to be the entrance area with that long corridor leading to a small courtyard with a single tree. Every material used, every window, every view and vista is carefully considered with light flooding in through various openings and funnels which make exploring the space so exciting and interesting.

It might not be an interior style that I’d choose for myself though I can’t help but admire the clean lines and uncluttered space that’s only interrupted by the odd pop of colour from a rogue picture book or building block… oh, did I mention the big blue bear… scary or what!?

RAFA KIDS | WHITE R TODDLER BED

I love it when my favourite brands and people come together and I just had to share these gorgeous images of Rafa Kids R Toddler bed taken by Paulina Arcklin. Regular readers will know about my mild obsession with her work and might remember my featured on Copenhagen based interiors shop Clarrods and Finnish brand Zoco Home. Plus last weeks post on the stunning 5 Columns House in Morocco.

She has such a distinct photographic style and easy touch that works perfectly with the R Toddler bed which is now available in white. The gorgeous bedding by Spanish company Moshi Moshi Kids adds some soft and playful touches and I can see how much fun two of my favourite ladies had during this shoot.

DREAM HOLIDAY HOME | BEACH HOUSE EL SALVADOR

Another Dream Holiday Home today this time in El Salvador and yes, I did have to look up where exactly that was/is! For those of you with equally shaky geography it’s in Central America, wedged in between Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala though for today’s eye candy purpose it doesn’t actually matter where this treasure is located as the pictures by Gaelle Le Boulicaut for Elle Decoration Philippines speak volumes.

I can just feel the heat looking at these shots and am in love with the large open plan outdoor living layout complete with kitchen and living / dining / chill out area. Beautiful polished concrete and a simple wooden A frame construction thatched with palm tree leaves provide shade during hot summer months and some colourful pops of yellow and lush green vegetation liven up the neutral almost Scandinavian interior scheme.

Only thing I’d add is a watermelon daiquiri and some relaxing tunes.
