It’s Monday! And it’s officially Spring so let’s kick the week off with some eye candy from sunny Australia.

Rob Mills are the interior architects responsible for the sleek and contemporary finish in these Melbourne apartments and I just adore the way the indoor and outdoor seamlessly connect with floor to ceiling glass panels and sliding doors.

The neutral colour palette not only shows off immaculate finishes of the natural materials used but poses a calm counterbalance to the different greens and foliage peeking through from the outside.

And what about the bedroom!? I’m sure that view will give you the sweetest dreams. Hurry up summer I long for some indoor outdoor living. #impatient

MOOD BOARD | GREEN TREND

Recently my interior feed has been flooded with lovely greens, not the bright minty kind but more subtle pale and dusty hues which I’m strangely attracted to.

Green seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment and the styling background of choice as seen here with the always sharp latest edition of Kinfolk styled by Lene Rønfeldt. Ferm Living set off their pastel kids selection against a pale green wall and Cleo Schleuderman of Dutch vt wonen created this beautiful picture wall on a dusty shade. Doesn’t it all look great!? Not sure it’ll convince me to re-paint but I’m sure liking the look of this trend. What do you think?

Wishing you all a great weekend.

BEAUTIFUL STYLING WITH PLANTS

I’m a huge fan of Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton and often dive into her book Colourful for some interior and styling inspiration. It’s pure eye candy for me and always leaves me feeling calm and relaxed – bit like a yoga class for the eye without any exercise.

With Spring edging ever closer I’m thinking of introducing some greenery into the home which is quite a big deal as I’m not particularly good at keeping plants alive. Plus the permanent danger from 4 little hands picking off leaves and digging up the soil fills me with dread… oh that mess!

Ok, I can get over that. Especially after spotting Lotta’s beautiful styling with plants captured by Kristofer Johnsson for Swedish Residence Magazine. Simply gorgeous.

If you’re thinking of introducing some plants into your home head over to Urban Jungle Bloggers run by my blogging buddies Judith and Igor. Between them they’ve got more than 4 green thumbs and lots of stylish ideas of how to decorate your home with some greens.

PASTEL SHADES IN VICTORIAN TERRACE

6 March 2015

Spring is almost here and it makes me lust after pastel shades like in this Melbourne home. The Victorian terrace has been remodelled by interior designer Fiona Lynch and the living area is now one large easy living space flooded with light thanks to the sheer curtains.

How cool are the grey custom made cabinets with blue lined drawers!?

Head over to EST to see the full home tour.

MAHABIS | THE QUEST FOR THE PERFECT SLIPPER

4 March 2015

I’ve been on the lookout for some slippers for aaaages to replace my sexy socks and Birkenstocks look around the house. The cowboy would never say anything but I know that look with the slightly raised eyebrow and an unspoken ‘honey, wtf are you wearing!?’.

So, once again this year during a cold winter night I searched the internet for hours – without any luck. Being me of course I already had something specific in mind: just a simple, comfy and stylish grey felt slipper that I could wear in my imaginary cabin in the mountains in front of a roaring fire. Something that would keep my toes equally warm on polished concrete floor or whitewashed floorboards. [Spot the Pinterest addict]

Not too much to ask you’d think. Well, I couldn’t find anything until one day I came across Mahabis via a chain of fortuitous clicks on Instagram and they looked perfect! It was as if they’d had been with me in my imaginary cabin, listened to my wishes and created my longed for comfy, simple and stylish slipper. I had to have them!

How excited and anxious I was when they arrived and unlike so many of my past internet dates they are even better in the flesh. I had my Cinderella moment!
Lightweight, breathable and lined with 100% wool there’s no need to wear socks. I love the collapsible neoprene heel as I often slip out of shoes and unlike most slippers you can wear them outside by simply attaching a rubber sole that comes in a variety of colours. Perfect if you have to get more fire wood for your imaginary cabin or simply have run out of milk.

Designed in London with Scandinavian design principles and made in Portugal Mahabis are European through and through and look just as stylish in a rural setting as well as in the city.

My quest for the perfect slipper is over… for now at least.
