Hello, I’m back with some interior inspiration today. Staying with the woody craftsman theme this week I want to show you this Dutch Farmhouse I came across on vtwonen.
It’s a great example of how to create a clean, modern look for your home with wood and I like the fact that they refrained from trying to blend the old and new but instead keeping it distinctly separate which is also great from a conservation point of view.
The old wooden beams have become a feature of the house and are stripped bare charming the visitor with their patina. For me old wood is lovely and tactile and I defy anybody not to secretly (or openly) stroke and hug one of the beams. I know I would!
The renovation project was obviously quite considerable as there are also lots of new wooden elements, like the new barn style sliding doors, skirting boards and wooden panelling in the kitchen. I’m guessing it’s pine as it’s so light and gives a hint of an industrial look opposing the majestic beams.
In my opinion the interior works because the owners have kept the colour palette neutral and instead add interest with the different textures and colours of the old and new wood.
I bet it all smells lovely too.
Enjoy!
