I love this old gnarled and twisted tree root the boys found a few weeks ago whilst playing in the woods. It spurned me into a trial run for our Christmas dinner – only the table setting mind, not the cooking. It’s a stand-off at the moment between turkey (the cowboy) and organic chicken (me), so much tastier and succulent but I think the cowboy might win this year as he missed out on Thanksgiving a few weeks ago when he flew back from a business trip and got in late.
One of the things I most look forward to at Christmas is setting and styling the dinner table. I think this year I’m going to keep it really simple and stick to black and white with a few rustic elements thrown in like some herbs tied around the napkins with simple string and of course the mighty tree root. I haven’t decided if I should stick with tea lights as in the photos or add some tall candles which would give a bit more height. #modernproblems
Hope this is getting you in the mood to try something different this year. Best of all, the decor is all natural so doesn’t have to cost a thing. Result!
