SUMMER STORIES BY STYLIST CIA WEDIN

7 July 2014

Happy sunny Monday to you all. Did you have a nice weekend? I was glued to the Wimbledon Men’s Final yesterday and kept changing my mind about who I wanted to win. Both SO deserved it but sadly only one winner – what a great match.

But back to Monday and I hope these shots styled by Cia Wedin will give you some joy and inspiration. I came across Cia’s site whilst writing Friday’s post about the small Swedish Cabin and because the weather has been really lovely recently I think today’s photos fit right in with that fresh sunny summer feel with a Scandinavian touch.

All of them are editorial Summer Stories shot for Scandinavian interior magazines like Residence, Elle Interior and Lantliv. For more beautiful styling head over to Cia’s site and check out her portfolio. She’s super talented and even styled photographer and blogger Sofia Jansson’s home which I featured on here a few weeks ago.

Seems that Cia and I are inspired by the same things.

PHOTOGRAPHY & STYLING FOR AHLENS

5 May 2014

Petra-Bindel-for-Ahlens-Magasin-via-Stylejuicer-06

Hello! How are you all? This week is going to be exciting for me as not only am I going to feature my first guest post but I’ll be old-fashioned networking at the first Blogtacular conference in London where I can’t wait to hear the fabulous Joy Cho and Anne Ditmeyer speak.

Joy must be one of the most successful lifestyle bloggers out there and is based in LA you should check out her site OhJoy for some Californian vibes. She also contributed to the fabulous Zara Brothers And Sisters campaign featured recently here on Stylejuicer.

So, let’s kick off the week with some more eye-candy from super photo/styling duo Petra Bindel and Emma Persson Lagerberg. They recently produced these gorgeous images for the Swedish department store chain Ahlens who operate throughout Sweden and Norway and sell everything from fashion, beauty, homewares and media.

I love the way Emma has styled the shots for Ahlens magazine with a reduced and soft colour palette. The crisp products contrasting with the rough backdrop of un-finished walls and rusty metal.

The setting looks like an apartment that is being renovated which is a clever idea as most people will be able to identify with that look and maybe even make the leap of imagining filling the finished apartment with beautiful goods from said store. A neat idea, cleverly executed Scandinavian style.

INSTAGRAM #STYLINGCOMPETITION

1 March 2014

jenniferlevau-StylingCompetition

Listen up budding stylists and design lovers! There’s a friendly styling competition going over on instagram involving some of my favourite bloggers and stylists.

Follow the hashtag StylingCompetition and you’ll see daily shots from famous US bloggers like Jennifer Hagler and her husband Jeremiah as well as Skandi super stylist Lotta Agaton – I just made up that title for her, I’m sure she won’t mind. It’s fun to see what everybody comes up with, especially when it’s more of a spontaneous shot.

You can of course also follow me and my attempts at styling everyday life amongst the toys and chaos that our two boistrous little guys create. I always look for the beauty in everyday life which round here is never boring!

PHOTOGRAPHY FOR THE SENSES BY BROOKE HOLM

I’m a big fan of Australian design and photography and came across photographer Brooke Holm through the wonderful EST Magazine and Lucy Feagins blog The Design Files.

Her style is clean and crisp and immediately draws you in. I love her travel series to New Zealand and breathtaking shots of sweeping landscapes, majestic mountains and misty forests. If you don’t already have the travel bug her photos will make you want to quit your job and jump on a plane. Somehow she manages to capture the essence of a place and speak to all your senses. I can just smell the pine forest, feel the fresh mountain air and hear the deafening silence at the lake looking at her shots.

Another favourite subject is interior photography, often styled by the talented Marsha Golemac who knows how to add those little touches that turn a good shot into a great one.

If you like what you see check out Brooke’s blog and website and follow her on Instagram, 16k followers can’t be bad and I’m one of them.

“INTO THE WILD” BY LUKAS FURLAN

2 February 2014

copyright Lukas Furlan Photography Into The Wild via stylejuicer.com

Each year when it gets to February and we are properly stuck in winter and the cold, damp English weather creeps into my bones I get cravings to go skiing. Errr, I tell a lie, it actually starts around Christmas time – see post about the gorgeous boutique hotel Bruecke 49 in Switzerland back in December.

The clean white snow and bright blue skies are my perfect antidote to beat the winter blues and my usual out-of-control schuss-ing gives me a total legal high.

Bit of a bummer I’m stuck at home with two small kids and a cowboy then, eh!? Still, as you know I like to daydream and Lukas Furlan’s photography of his ‘Trip Into The Wild’ brings back fond memories of (aprés-)skiing in the Alps on this grey February morning in London.

His photos are stunning and illustrate his trip to south Tyrol through all weather conditions, night and day. When I contacted him I was surprised to find that he’s a laid back Austrian guy in his early twenties studying Media Informatics in Vienna. Photography is one of his hobbies and right now he doesn’t have any plans to go pro and just loves to shoot for fun. He tells me about his trip:

“As usually, it was a spontaneous trip into the back country. A pal and I had some school days off and decided to go for a short photography trip. We didn’t have the best camping gear for the conditions, so we were a bit nervous about spending the night in such a remote location. The weather was unsettled – the first day cloudy and foggy, but also blue sky and bright rays of sunlight. The second day started with heavy snowfall, which was also the reason we had to return home early.”

Lukas, you’ve made my day! Go wild!
