MY MONTH ON INSTAGRAM | MARCH 2015

31 March 2015

instagram, my month, march, mymonthoninstagram, photo, photography, trend, style, daily, experiences, beauty, moments, spring, cherry blossom, season, stylejuicer, kids, bed, london, royal festival hall, do south shop, styling challenge, instagram, adidas superstar, trainers, hip mummy crowd

To sum up March… gnmpf!!! A lot of blanks!!! I had to spin more plates than normal on top of some cranky kids full of cold which they kindly passed on to me before skipping off into the sunset.

Ok, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, March started on a major high with my invite to a styling challenge at Do South shop in South London. It was great fun and you can still take part in my give away competition over on Instagram to win a stylish canary yellow laptop bag kindly donated by Do South. Entries close this (Good) Friday.

I also managed to get a dose of #LondonLove with a day at the Royal Festival Hall and some shopping for those long overdue Adidas Superstar trainers so I can join the hip mummy crowd on IG. Yeah right!

April, you better hand me some aces.

CHARLIE DREVSTAM | FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

28 March 2015

Charlie Drevstam, photography, Tommy Myllymäki, sweden, swedish, chef, books, sauces, natur & Kultur, innovative, fresh, unique, classic still life, contemporary, minimalism

If you read my post on Swedish celebrity chef Tommy Myllymäki’s home yesterday you may have noticed the beautiful photographic print above his dining table.

It’s by Charlie Drevstam who worked with Tommy on both his books ‘Sauces’ and ‘Natur & Kultur’.

His photography is innovative and fresh I adore the stylized art direction and food styling which is an interesting combination between classic still life and contemporary minimalism. The splashes provide a great connection with the subject matter of ‘sauces’ which can be a bit of a mission to bring to life.

Check out the rest of his portfolio here.

MY MONTH ON INSTAGRAM | FEBRUARY 2015

28 February 2015

instagram, my month, february, mymonthoninstagram, photo, photography, trend, style, daily, experiences, beauty, moments, snow, winter, season, stylejuicer, kids, bed, london, breakfast, magnolia, kew gardens, smoothie, selfie, hashtag, 20beautifulwomenchallenge, 20 beautiful women challenge

Zoom… wow, how fast has February flown by!? Don’t be fooled by some of the sunny pictures, it was a pretty gloomy month – though we did at last get about 2 inches of snow which disappeared in all of five seconds. The kids loved it though they did comment how cold it was, duh!

The main event this month in Instagram world was the hashtag #20beautifulwomenchallenge to encourage self esteem and confidence in women. After being tagged by far too many to ignore I finally decided to take part and posted the dreaded selfie. How I cringed and didn’t dare to look at the likes and comments for ages… well, at least 2 hours which is ‘ages’ in IG world.

But I’m glad to report that my follower figures didn’t plummet and it was quite overwhelming and emotional to receive all the lovely supportive comments. By tagging 20 more women I realised that the vast majority have got the same fears and it is precisely for that reason that this campaign is necessary and so healthy especially on a social platform that is for the most part obsessed with beauty and documenting life in the best possible light.

We are all women and we are all beautiful, whatever age or colour, and if you haven’t taken part consider yourself tagged and I promise you it’s a liberating and empowering experience.

MY MONTH ON INSTAGRAM | JANUARY 2015

31 January 2015

instagram, my month, January, mymonthoninstagram, photo, photography, trend, style, daily, experiences, beauty, moments, frost, winter, season, stylejuicer, kids, bed, london, MyE20, East Village, get living london, yay, wood, rustic, desk, office, sorting, flat lay

Phew… finally it’s the end of January. How long was this month – surely there were more than 31 days!?

So what did we do? Well, we packed, we moved, we settled and we’ve been waiting for it to snow here in London all of January. The kids are desperate to build a snowman and I’m swooning over the snowy landscapes of my fellow Instagram -ers from far and not so wide. Seems everybody has had at least a little sprinkling apart from us in the Big Smoke. *unfair*

Despite the lack of said snow we’re loving our new home which is south facing and has got the most amazing light flooding in. I’m in heaven in my new small home office which is clear of anything kids related, pristine white and clutter free – for now at least.

Changing the kids bedroom from baby to kids is my next project and I’m busy planning and sifting through ideas. Remember my post about black and white kids room ideas? I’m honing in and will be sharing more soon.

Here’s to February with Valentines and small signs of Spring coming up – or will we finally get some snow in London!?
