The smell of wood is so evocative for me that I was immediately drawn into this story I found on Residence Magazine. Kim Dolva is a master craftsman who cleverly talked his way into working at a guitar workshop when he was 19 because he loved the smell of wood, the craftsman’s passion and attention to detail. After an excursion into the world of graphic design he eventually started Kobenhavns Mobel Snedkeri seven years ago with Søren Jespersen whom he met during his studies.

His office and showroom is a *dream* displaying individual products like chairs, tables and beds as well as customised kitchens, bathrooms and storage solutions. Clients from all round the world now line up for the bespoke service and he’s going to add pieces he picks up on his travel to his shop alongside the showroom in Copenhagen to complete the ‘look’.

His own home has a modern rustic feel with stark white walls, ceilings and floors focussing the attention on his craftsmanship with stunning cabinets and a walk-in closet Carrie Bradshaw would die for. The kitchen units are made of solid smoked oak with hand carved brass knobs and drawers with solid carved insets for utensils to nestle into.

Is it wrong that I want to stroke it all!?
