Yay! I love June. The days are long, the temperatures mostly pleasant and I was finally ready to announce my new Instagram name this month @wildboysandgirls_ in case you’re looking for me.

Wild Boys & Girls is my latest creation – a hip urban kids apparel and decor brand that’s going to open it’s online doors at the beginning of September. It’s been so much fun working on this project for the past 3 months though it feels a bit like baby number 3 that needs a lot of nurturing and attention in it’s first year. Let’s hope it’ll grow big and strong. 😉

Hope you enjoy following along on IG and being part of this amazing crazy virtual community. I love seeing all your likes and comments and try and reply to each and every one of them.

Another 2 weeks to go and we’re off on our BIG US adventure. From the Rocky Mountains to Times Square we’ve got it covered. Hop on for the ride!

SOAK AND SLEEP | SUMMER OF LINEN

24 June 2015

soak and sleep, summer of linen, 100% pure french linen, quality, pillow consultation, duvets, pillows, bed linen, towels, toppers, protectors, mattresses, relaxed, easy, style, trend, soft natural shades, white, grey, soft blue, charcoal pre-shrunk, pre-softened, for the home

A few weeks ago I was invited by Soak and Sleep to celebrate their ‘Summer of Linen’ with an ultimate wind down experience. Considering they’re a bed and bathroom company I might be forgiven that my thoughts immediately drifted off to a sleep-over in a posh London hotel. C’mon Annie, get real!

Well, interestingly I wasn’t far off as pretty soon we were all encouraged to get into bed and lie down for our pillow consultation at gorgeous London boutique hotel Artist Residence. It’s amazing what a difference the right pillow with the correct support for your sleeping position can make and I’ve been nodding off like a baby ever since they surprised me with my chosen favourite.

Soak and Sleep is passionate to give you the best night’s sleep and continually research and source the best fabrics and products around the globe. From duvets, pillows, bed linen, towels, toppers, protectors & mattresses they’ve got it covered and by buying directly from trusted factories they can offer incredible value for money without wasteful mark ups.

With their ‘Summer of Linen’ theme they’re introducing 100% Pure French Linen that has a relaxed, tousled look – or as I call it ‘deliberately crumpled’. I love this easy look and the slightly cool feel of the linen that just gets better with age. The fabric is pre-shrunk and pre-softened and comes in beautiful natural shades like white, grey, soft blue and charcoal. Perfect to create that calm look and feel for your bedroom. Good night!

DREAM HOLIDAY HOME | MODERN RUSTIC IN PUGLIA

22 June 2015

dream holiday homes, puglia, italy, modern rustic, architect Luca Zanaroli, dry stone walling, old farm, coast, sea, polished concrete, rust-coloured flooring, white washed walls, intimate, terrace, stunning views, recycled elements, beach finds, style, trend

I don’t know about you but I’m lusting after holiday homes at the moment.

It finally feels like summer is around the corner (isn’t it always in this country) and I just want to escape somewhere hot and sunny. Preferably with a pool or next to the sea with stunning views, a large terrace and equally beautiful interior and decor. Ha! Don’t we all you’re thinking… So, I’ve decided to run a small series of dream holiday homes that should quench my thirst for some eye candy over the next couple of months.

Starting with this modern rustic holiday home in Puglia, Italy that ticks almost all my boxes and is a perfect mix of old and new. It belongs to architect Luca Zanaroli who used stones from the surrounding farmland to cover his new build blending it effortlessly into the landscape as if it’s been there for hundreds of years. He even applied the old technique of dry stone walling without the use of mortar.

The inside is harmoniously connected by white washed walls and polished rust-coloured concrete floors that give an immediate lived in feel to this modern new home. Luca made the deliberate choice of keeping the rooms intimate with small windows directing the view and giving glimpses of the outside like a group of cactae or an old gnarly olive tree. After all you can appreciate the stunning view across fields towards the sea from the wrap around terrace.

I really like the use of recycled elements in a new context like the old gate converted into a headboard in one of the bedrooms and the wall display of sea shells and beach finds that connects the house to it’s coastal setting.

STYLING | GARDEN GADGETS BY LOTTA AGATON

19 June 2015

I found some beautiful styling of garden gadgets by Lotta Agaton on Swedish site Residence Magazine for which she’s now creative director.

She’s got such an easy touch with arranging things and I love the fresh green tones and the way she incorporates old and new. I can spot a few things from the highly anticipated Sinnerlig collection by Ilse Crawford for IKEA blogged and raved about on here a few weeks ago.

Off to the garden now though I may just enjoy the surrounding greenery with a quiet cup of coffee.

KIDS CORNER | WINTER WATER FACTORY & GIVEAWAY

10 June 2015

kids corner, winter water factory, brooklyn, kids brand, organic cotton, sustainable, local, locally produced, giveaway, competition, instagram, fabric, prints, patterns, quality, soft, durable, design, style, fashion, retro, trend, stefanie lynen, design sponge

I’ve been a bit of a fan of Brooklyn based Winter Water Factory for a while now and was delighted when they got in touch and suggested a blog post with a small giveaway.

YES! You can win this gorgeous Outer Space t-shirt (or chose a different one) by commenting below or on my Instagram account. The competition closes in one week, on the 17th June 2015, and the winner will be drawn at random.

What drew me initially to their range were the gorgeous, slightly retro prints and patterns that somehow reminded me of my own childhood. On further investigation it turns out that founder and owner Stefanie is indeed German and the name Winter Water Factory stems from a small business enterprise she and her sister set up in their back yard when they were kids. Bottling snow and selling ‘winter water’ to her family and friends was a pretty genius idea if you ask me and I’m sure it would have taken off had they got their social media strategy in place.

Fast forward a few years and Stefanie’s childhood obsession with creating prints and patterns led her to start WWF. She decided early on that she wanted to produce everything locally in Brooklyn and work with manufacturers that treat their people right and pay them fairly.

Reading her interview in DesignSponge it’s apparent how proud she is to personally know the people making her product, a mere 10 blocks away in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She even bakes them a cake when each collection is finished. What an awesome client!

But as every passionate designer/maker her biggest satisfaction comes from happy customers:

There is nothing quite like seeing kids wearing our clothes and parents telling us how many compliments they get, that we are helping them get the kids dressed in the morning. Kids want to wear our clothes! It’s great to see when they notice that we design with them in mind, and find their favorite animal, toy, or construction equipment printed on their shirts. Our clothing becomes an instant favorite – it’s soft, bright and comfortable. Parents also love it because it doesn’t wear out or go out of style so they can hand it down.

I have to chime in at this point as another happy customer, the quality really is outstanding. Soft and durable and my boys love wearing them.

Fancy getting your hands on one of these? Just enter the competition by commenting below or on my Instagram account. Competition closes on the 17th of June 2015.
