MY MONTH ON INSTAGRAM | MARCH 2015

31 March 2015

instagram, my month, march, mymonthoninstagram, photo, photography, trend, style, daily, experiences, beauty, moments, spring, cherry blossom, season, stylejuicer, kids, bed, london, royal festival hall, do south shop, styling challenge, instagram, adidas superstar, trainers, hip mummy crowd

To sum up March… gnmpf!!! A lot of blanks!!! I had to spin more plates than normal on top of some cranky kids full of cold which they kindly passed on to me before skipping off into the sunset.

Ok, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, March started on a major high with my invite to a styling challenge at Do South shop in South London. It was great fun and you can still take part in my give away competition over on Instagram to win a stylish canary yellow laptop bag kindly donated by Do South. Entries close this (Good) Friday.

I also managed to get a dose of #LondonLove with a day at the Royal Festival Hall and some shopping for those long overdue Adidas Superstar trainers so I can join the hip mummy crowd on IG. Yeah right!

April, you better hand me some aces.

SMALL SPACES | SWEDISH HOME FOR SALE

30 March 2015

small spaces, swedish home for sale, decor, interior design, style, styling, trend, calm, minimal, monochrome, neutral, colour palette, relaxed, uncluttered, design conscious hipster, living, home, jonas berg, photographer, estate agents stadshem

Ah, how we all love those Swedish Homes For Sale that flood our (my!) Pinterest feed and nobody makes them look better than photographer Jonas Berg. Actually, I’m not sure if he styles the homes himself but they must sell like hot cakes with their minimal, monochrome look and calm mainly white colourpalette – oozing relaxed, uncluttered living for design conscious hipsters.

It’s incredible that this apartment is only 36m2 and yet looks positively spacious though bed-and living room is merged into one even including a little work station. I think it really helps that the kitchen is separate with enough space for a table. I love the wide and inviting hall with the dark wood panelling and different height hooks giving lots of space for coats, jackets, bags and all the other accessories I never seem to have enough room for.

And what about all that wall art!? I could rip the entire collection off… *swoon*

CHARLIE DREVSTAM | FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY

28 March 2015

Charlie Drevstam, photography, Tommy Myllymäki, sweden, swedish, chef, books, sauces, natur & Kultur, innovative, fresh, unique, classic still life, contemporary, minimalism

If you read my post on Swedish celebrity chef Tommy Myllymäki’s home yesterday you may have noticed the beautiful photographic print above his dining table.

It’s by Charlie Drevstam who worked with Tommy on both his books ‘Sauces’ and ‘Natur & Kultur’.

His photography is innovative and fresh I adore the stylized art direction and food styling which is an interesting combination between classic still life and contemporary minimalism. The splashes provide a great connection with the subject matter of ‘sauces’ which can be a bit of a mission to bring to life.

Check out the rest of his portfolio here.

A CHEFS HOME

27 March 2015

Tommy Myllymäki, residence magazine, sweden, swedish, chef, celebrity, chef of the year 2007, sauces, natur & Kultur, interior design, styling, trend, style, home, decor, quirky details, Charlie Drevstam, photography

In the house of an award winning chef you’d expect the kitchen to be the central point. Tommy Myllymäki has taken it one step further and advises to treat your kitchen like a professional with crockery and plates closest to the counter, ‘firestation’ to the left and two refrigerators, one for daily items like dairy and the other for less frequently used items.

The shots are via Swedish Residence magazine and accompany an in-depth interview with the celebrity chef who not only won Chef of the Year in 2007 but has written two books ‘Sauces’ and ‘Natur & Kultur’. He’s also had appearances on Swedish TV and consults for as well as co-owns several gastronomic venues.

As I can’t read Swedish I was taken by the soft palette of naturals and pastels used in his home and the quirky details like the distressed headboard in the bedroom and the huge neon sign above the clothing rail. Check out the DIY coffee table made from an old door with swivel wheels stuck on – so simple yet effective and unique. The photographic print above the dining table is by Charlie Drevstam who worked with him on both his books and is a phenomenal photographer – more on him tomorrow.

Happy Friday y’all.
